Azerbaijani president, Schlumberger CEO discuss energy cooperation PHOTO/UPDATED

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Schlumberger Overseas S.A. (SLB) CEO Olivier Le Peuch discussed key energy developments during their June 2 meeting.

The sides emphasised the strategic importance of the Anniversary International Caspian Oil and Gas Exhibition and the Caspian International Power and Green Energy Exhibition held as part of Baku Energy Week, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media. 

Both leaders highlighted that these events are vital platforms for addressing global energy challenges.

They acknowledged Schlumberger’s successful projects in Azerbaijan, particularly its 30-year contribution to the development of the country’s oil and gas fields.  The importance of continuing cooperation with SOCAR and bp was also underlined.

Additionally, information was exchanged regarding a potential geothermal energy project in the Kalbajar and Lachin districts., to be undertaken in partnership with SOCAR Green,.

The discussion concluded with an exchange on the prospects for future cooperation between Azerbaijan and Schlumberger Overseas S.A.
