Azerbaijani president visits Georgian embassy to condole Patriarch Ilia II’s passing PHOTO
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev visited the Embassy of Georgia in Azerbaijan on March 27 to extend condolences following the death of His Holiness Ilia II, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia.
Ambassador of Georgia to Azerbaijan, Zurab Pataradze, received the President at the embassy. During the visit, President Aliyev wrote a heartfelt message in the condolence book and engaged in a discussion with the ambassador, Caliber.Az reports, citing state media.
President Aliyev noted that His Holiness Ilia II devoted his life and work to noble causes and the promotion of interfaith dialogue, emphasising that his memory will always be respectfully remembered in Azerbaijan.
He also highlighted the patriarch’s role in fostering the development of traditional friendship and cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia.
Ambassador Pataradze expressed his gratitude to President Aliyev for visiting the embassy and offering condolences.
