Azerbaijani president visits Khojavand's Sos village, oversees restoration efforts PHOTO
On September 14, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev visited Sos village in Khojavand District to review the progress of reconstruction and development efforts.
The head of state was briefed on the work completed in the village since it came under Azerbaijani control during the counter-terrorism operation conducted by the Armed Forces in 2023, Caliber.Az reports via Azertac.
Significant restoration efforts have been carried out in Sos, including the rehabilitation of power and gas supply lines, the repair of sub-artesian wells, and the installation of two new transformers. The process of installing utility metres has commenced, three water reservoirs have been renovated, and approximately five kilometres of gas pipeline have been laid.
Of the 259 houses in the village, 70 were previously uninhabitable, while 189 were partially habitable. Currently, 10 houses are ready for occupancy, with another 75 scheduled to be completed by the end of the year. By 2026, plans call for the restoration of 104 additional houses.
So far, 10 families, totalling 46 people, have returned to Sos. During his visit, President Aliyev also visited the home of one of the returning residents, Hamlet Gulmammadov.
