Azerbaijani president welcomes new French envoy, marks new stage in bilateral ties PHOTO
On October 16, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the credentials of Sophie Lagoutte, the newly appointed Ambassador of France to Azerbaijan.
Recalling his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Copenhagen, Ilham Aliyev stated that issues that previously caused misunderstandings between the two countries are now in the past, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani president’s official website.
President Aliyev emphasised the start of a new phase in the bilateral agenda, highlighting the importance of restoring and developing interpersonal and business contacts, as well as cooperation in cultural and humanitarian spheres.
Sophie Lagoutte, in turn, said a new chapter is opening in Azerbaijan-France relations and expressed her readiness to make every effort to strengthen these ties.
The meeting also touched upon the successful development of relations between Azerbaijan and France in various sectors, including high technology and the aerospace industry.
The importance of resuming the work of the intergovernmental commission was underlined, as well as twin-city connections, organising mutual business delegation visits, and the participation of French companies in various projects.
The meeting highlighted the successful energy partnership between Azerbaijan and France and the significance of cooperation with the French company Total.
During the discussion, the parties shared views on the prospects for bilateral relations and emphasised the need to continue cooperation.
