Azerbaijani, UAE leaders inspect Armenian-bullet-riddled monuments in Shusha PHOTO
On September 16, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan inspected monuments in Shusha dedicated to prominent Azerbaijani figures—Natavan, Bulbul, and Uzeyir Hajibayli—that had been destroyed by Armenian occupiers.
According to Azertag, the UAE President was briefed that during the period of occupation, the Armenians had attempted to take these sculptures to Armenia for melting. Thanks to the intervention of national leader Heydar Aliyev, the sculptures were purchased from Armenia and returned to Azerbaijan. The artworks, which were temporarily kept in the courtyard of the Baku Museum of Art, were restored to their original locations following the liberation of Shusha.
