Baku-Berlin business ties strengthen as President Aliyev meets German economic chief PHOTO
On May 30, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan received Michael Harms, Chairman of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy, for a meeting focused on enhancing economic ties between Azerbaijan and Germany.
During the discussion, President Aliyev warmly recalled his previous encounters with Harms and noted past interactions with representatives from the German business sector, Caliber.Az reports, citing domestic media.
Both sides highlighted the significance of the recent visit by the President of Germany to Azerbaijan, underlining its impact in boosting bilateral relations, especially within the economic domain.
The meeting included praise for the deepening cooperation between the two countries across various areas, with special attention given to trade and economic relations. Confidence was shared that Harms’ current visit would be fruitful and serve as a meaningful opportunity to further develop the agenda of bilateral economic collaboration.
Michael Harms announced that a “Roadmap” outlining joint economic projects was set to be signed with Azerbaijan’s Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO) on the same day. He emphasised that the initiative enjoyed strong political support from President Aliyev.
In addition, the discussion covered Azerbaijan’s attractive investment climate and highlighted the involvement of German companies in the country. Both parties exchanged views on the potential for expanded economic cooperation in the future.
