Baku court advances trial of Armenians accused of crimes against humanity
On December 19, the trial of Armenian citizens accused of serious crimes continues at the Baku Military Court.
According to AZERTAC, during today’s session, defendant David Manukyan delivered his final statement. He presented counterarguments in response to the prosecution’s claims, stating that he did not agree with the prosecutors’ assertions.
Manukyan added that he neither participated in nor observed the “security council meetings” of the self-proclaimed regime, as his official duties did not permit it. He also expressed gratitude to his legal team.
Defendant Arayik Harutyunyan also addressed the court in his final statement, rejecting the arguments put forward by the prosecution. He highlighted that he and his two brothers had attended school in Karabakh without any difficulties studying in Armenian. Harutyunyan stressed that they had no conflicts with Azerbaijanis and had taken part in each other’s events.
The trial in Baku concerns Armenian citizens accused of crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes—including preparation and conduct of aggressive war, genocide, violations of the laws and customs of war, terrorism, financing terrorism, violent seizure and retention of power, and numerous other offences.
