Beijing to help reinstate Moscow-Kyiv peace talks, senior diplomat vows
Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Xie Feng has said his country has been working on effective options to overcome the conflict in Ukraine and will help restore peace talks between Kyiv and Moscow.
Feng made the statement on January 16 at the 4th Annual China Global Think Tank Forum organised by the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, TASS reports.
According to him, Beijing is working on projects that would help address the root causes and consequences of the crisis in Ukraine, as well as independently assess what is happening and take an independent stance on the issue.
In this way, China "contributes to the maintenance of global peace and security", the diplomat noted, adding that his country continues to adhere to a peaceful development path and, based on this principle, pursues an appropriate policy in the world.
The deputy minister dismissed claims alleging China’s intention to use military force to change the situation.
"This is a slander against China based on ulterior motives," Feng stressed, adding that humanity can only count on sustainable development if it chooses a peaceful path and maintains harmony among nations.
