Belarus affirms readiness to defend its national interests
Defence Minister of Belarus Viktor Khrenin has said that the updated military doctrine of his country can serve as a basis for resolving the situation in Europe and launching a peaceful dialogue.
According to Khrenin, the draft of the new military doctrine specifies the typology of military conflicts for the conditions of Belarus, as well as eliminates gradation by scale. According to the minister, the new doctrine reviews interstate and coalition wars instead of local and regional ones. He noted that any possible war, be it local or regional, would cover the entire territory of the state and require the tension of all forces, Belta reports.
By fixing the notion of "interstate war," Minsk makes "an important political statement that the Republic of Belarus is ready to independently defend its vital national interests," Khrenin emphasized.
"In the concept of "coalition war" we lay down the sense that the achievement of victory will be realized by the use of Belarus troops together with the troops of allies," the minister added.
