Polish president to skip Trump’s inauguration, attending World Economic Forum instead
Polish President Andrzej Duda has confirmed that he will not be attending the inauguration of US President Donald Trump on January 20, as he will be participating in the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, during the same period.
According to a statement from the Polish President's office, Duda is scheduled to attend the WEF from January 20 to 24, where he will engage with global leaders and policymakers on key economic and geopolitical issues, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
Polish media has reported that former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, who served from 2017 to 2023, has received an invitation from Trump to attend the inauguration ceremony. Morawiecki will represent Poland at the event in Washington.
The inauguration of the 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump, is set to take place on January 20 in Washington, DC.
The swearing-in ceremony marks the culmination of a two-week period of national special security events, which are designated as occasions of the highest national importance. These events receive increased federal funding and are overseen by the US Secret Service.
In addition to the inauguration, other key events during this period include the electoral count on January 6, former President Jimmy Carter's state funeral on January 9, and a major rally for President-elect Donald Trump at Capital One Arena on January 19.
Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance will take the oath of office on the west front of the Capitol, surrounded by heightened security measures. While some elements, such as a large presence of federal agents and law enforcement officers, will be clearly visible, other measures—such as bomb detection devices, snipers, and radiation detectors—will be less noticeable but equally crucial.
