OIC reaffirms support for Azerbaijan in key meeting with Caucasus Muslims Office delegation PHOTO

Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO) Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, alongside MPs Samad Seyidov, Fazil Mustafa, Javanshir Pashazade, and Rashad Mahmudov, visited Saudi Arabia at the invitation of Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah al-Sheikh, Chairman of the Advisory Council.

According to the Caucasus Muslims Office, the delegation met with the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hussein Ibrahim Taha, on January 8, 2025, at the OIC headquarters in Jeddah, Caliber.Az reports.

During the meeting, Sheikh-ul-Islam Pashazade conveyed the greetings of Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev to the OIC Secretary-General. "Azerbaijan became a member of the OIC in 1991, even before the collapse of the Soviet Union," Pashazade highlighted.

"These relations, initiated by our national leader Heydar Aliyev, have been further strengthened by President Ilham Aliyev."

Taha, the Secretary-General of the OIC, expressed strong support for Azerbaijan's position, stating, "We have always supported Azerbaijan's stance." He also expressed satisfaction with the successful organization of COP29 and Azerbaijan's participation in the conference.

"The ministerial meetings held in cooperation with Azerbaijan have significantly contributed to strengthening effective cooperation. The upcoming 16th OIC Summit of Heads of State and Government in Azerbaijan in 2026 is a clear demonstration of the trust OIC member states place in your country," Taha added.

At the end of the meeting, the OIC Secretary-General asked Pashazade to convey his greetings to President Ilham Aliyev. Sheikh-ul-Islam Pashazade, in turn, extended an invitation to Taha to visit Azerbaijan.
