Biden calls Finland's accession to NATO his personal merit
Finland's entry into the NATO bloc is a personal merit of US President Joe Biden.
Biden made the remarks in an interview with Time magazine, according to Gazeta.ru.
He said that after one of the G7 group meetings, he recalled a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who said that he would like to see the Finlandisation of NATO.
"I answered him that he would not achieve the Finlandisation [of NATO], but the Finlandisation of Finland. And everyone - including you guys - thought I was crazy. And guess what? I did," Biden said.
He explained that he called the Finnish president afterwards and the issue, as can be understood, was resolved.
According to Biden, the North Atlantic Alliance is much stronger now than it was in 2021 when he took office as US president.
