Ukraine joins several EU sanctions packages against Russia, Belarus, Iran
Ukraine has aligned itself with some EU sanctions packages targeting Russia, as well as sanctions against individuals involved in human rights violations in Belarus and Iran.
President Volodymyr Zelensky has enacted three decisions of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) and signed decrees to synchronise Ukraine's sanctions policy with several EU decisions, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Ukrainian President's Office.
This marks the first stage in implementing the NSDC's June 27, 2025 decision titled “On the synchronisation of Ukraine’s sanctions pressure with that of the EU and other G7 members against Russia and affiliated entities.”
Ukraine has now aligned its sanctions with the EU’s 9th through 14th sanctions packages, as well as sanctions against those responsible for human rights violations in Belarus and EU decisions from 2011 and 2020–2025 targeting individuals involved in human rights abuses in Iran and military support to Russia in its war against Ukraine.
In total, the sanctions cover 403 individuals and 188 legal entities.
“Our country continues to prepare the next sanctions packages for the full synchronisation of sanctions policy with our partners. Ukraine expects the international community to maximally reflect and support Ukrainian sanctions in their respective national decisions,” the President's Office stated.
