Blinken reaffirms US commitment to Israel's security amid Middle East tensions
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has issued a firm message to both Israel and Iran, urging them to refrain from actions that could further escalate tensions in the Middle East.
This announcement follows diplomatic discussions between the United States and Australia in the "two plus two" format, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
In his statement, Blinken emphasized the ongoing efforts by the US and its allies to mitigate tensions and prevent the conflict from worsening.
"We are working tirelessly to de-escalate the situation in the Middle East. Over the past several days, we have maintained constant communication with our partners both in the region and globally," he stated, underscoring the consensus among the US and its partners that escalation should be avoided at all costs.
Blinken highlighted that the US has been in direct diplomatic contact with both Israel and Iran to convey this message.
"We are delivering this message directly to Iran and Israel through intensive diplomatic engagement," he noted.
The Secretary of State reaffirmed the US's unwavering commitment to Israel's security.
"Our dedication to ensuring Israel's security remains steadfast. We will continue to protect Israel from terrorist attacks and their sponsors, and similarly, we will defend our troops," Blinken asserted. He warned that further attacks could lead to "unpredictable and dangerous consequences."
