Brig-Gen: IRGC's intelligence forces thwart major espionage networks targeting Iran
Brigadier General Siavash Moslemi, the Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in Iran's Mazanderan province, revealed that the IRGC intelligence forces had successfully dismantled multiple spy networks linked to the US, Israel, and other adversarial nations.
In an interview with Iranian media, General Moslemi detailed the IRGC’s achievements in the realm of security and intelligence, emphasizing the agency’s significant role in disrupting espionage activities in the province, per Caliber.Az.
He noted, “Through careful intelligence monitoring, we have successfully dismantled infiltration and espionage networks linked to US intelligence, the Zionist regime, and other hostile countries.”
The commander highlighted the continuous efforts of adversaries, including the intelligence services of the US, Israel, and certain regional powers, to infiltrate Iran’s Mazanderan province. According to Moslemi, many of these foreign agents operate under the guise of foreign nationals or visitors, often using the cover of commercial entities, cultural organizations, or charitable foundations to gather intelligence or build covert networks.
Moslemi stressed that the IRGC's careful surveillance enabled the identification and dismantling of these espionage cells, neutralizing serious security threats and averting potential crises.
His remarks came shortly after the IRGC’s announcement on January 11 that they had completed a major operation to arrest members of a spy cell in Khuzestan province, located in southwestern Iran. The IRGC stated that the arrested spies were operating “in the interests of a Persian Gulf country” and were gathering sensitive information on vital facilities in the province.
The IRGC’s intelligence-driven operation, which resulted in the arrests, was attributed to extensive surveillance and intelligence gathering.
