Conflict erupts on Kyrgyz-Tajik border
A conflict has aroused between residents of border areas on one of the sections of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border.
"On July 24, 2023, there was an incident between residents of border areas on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border," the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of Kyrgyzstan said, Caliber.Az reports citing Kyrgyz media.
An officer of the territorial unit of the Kyrgyz Interior Ministry arrived on the scene, but on the approach to the incident site, he was attacked by citizens of Tajikistan, residents of the village of Khojai-Aalo.
To avoid escalation of tension, negotiations between border representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are being held. The Kyrgyz Border Service urged Kyrgyz citizens not to panic and to clarify all information with the state authorities.
Tajikistan's State Committee for National Security, in turn, reported that four Tajiks were injured in a conflict between local residents on the border with Kyrgyzstan. Currently, the situation has been stabilised and representatives of the authorities of the two countries are clarifying the circumstances, the agency said.
