Finnair cancels flights to Lapland amid extreme cold weather
09 January 2026 19:30
Finnair, Finland’s national airline, has canceled several flights to the country’s far north due to unusually severe cold weather.
On January 9, the airline announced that at least one Helsinki–Rovaniemi–Helsinki flight scheduled for the day would be canceled, citing extreme temperatures in Lapland, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Another flight, originally planned to stop near the popular Levi ski resort, will bypass Levi and continue directly to its final destination in Ivalo further north.
Several cancellations also affected the flights on January 8 to Lapland, an unusual measure for the airline, which rarely halts winter services due to cold weather.
