Ukraine battles blackouts amid renewed Russian attacks on energy networks
Overnight attacks by Russian forces have once again targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, leaving over 130,000 consumers in the Dnipropetrovsk region without electricity.
In Kyiv and Kyiv region, approximately 10,000 consumers—primarily in Brovary district—remain without power following the previous day’s shelling, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrenergo.
Despite ongoing attacks, restoration efforts continue. Over the past 24 hours, more than 350,000 residents in Kyiv have had electricity restored. On the left bank of the capital and in parts of Kyiv region, emergency outages remain in effect due to damage to the networks, while on the right bank, electricity is being rationed according to hourly schedules.
Frontline and border regions continue to experience prolonged power outages, as ongoing hostilities complicate restoration work. In other areas across Ukraine, temporary restrictive measures are in place, including scheduled hourly blackouts and limitations on electricity for industrial consumers. Ukrenergo emphasizes that official outage schedules for each region are available on the respective regional energy providers’ platforms.
Emergency restoration crews are working around the clock to stabilize the system. “Our energy workers are operating continuously to restore electricity supply as quickly as possible,” Ukrenergo stated.
Power outage schedules are expected to remain in effect nationwide throughout January 10, as authorities work to maintain grid stability amid repeated attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
