France summons Russian envoy over Leipzig airport incidents

The French Foreign Ministry has summoned the Russian chargé d’affaires in Paris over allegations concerning Moscow’s involvement in incidents at Leipzig Airport.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said he had summoned the Russian representative to formally protest, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.

“I summoned the Russian chargé d’affaires in Paris to express my protest,” Barrot said.

On September 2, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas also said that the head of Russia’s mission to the EU in Brussels had been summoned.

Kallas said it was “clear” that Russia was involved but declined to provide further details until German authorities identify those they believe were responsible.

Her comments followed Germany’s decision to hold Russia responsible for what Berlin described as an attempted drone attack at the airport on August 4.

German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt said on September 1, that the government had concluded Russia was responsible and described the incident as a hybrid attack.
