Drone scare shuts down Germany's Leipzig/Halle airport

An unidentified drone was spotted over Germany's Leipzig/Halle Airport overnight, forcing the facility to suspend operations immediately.

The drone was detected shortly after midnight. Airport operations were halted until 01:55 local time, and one flight was diverted to Nuremberg, Caliber.Az reports via German media.

During the search for the drone, authorities discovered a suspicious object on one of the airport's runways. No details have been released about the nature of the object. 

The runway remains closed, with all arrivals and departures currently operating from the airport's other runway. Leipzig police have launched an investigation into the incident.
