Croatian leader congratulates President Aliyev on Independence Day
Croatian President Zoran Milanovic has sent a congratulatory letter to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of May 28 – Independence Day.
"On the occasion of National Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan – the Independence Day, I am pleased to extend on behalf of the citizens of the Republic of Croatia and on my behalf, warm congratulations, and wishes of progress and prosperity to your citizens. Croatia and Azerbaijan are tied by longstanding cooperation and friendship. I believe that in the time ahead we will further work to advance our overall relations," Caliber.Az cites the letter posted on the website of the presidential press service.
Croatia recognised Azerbaijan's independence On December 28, 1991. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on January 26, 1995. The strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Croatia is based on the Zagreb Declaration on Strategic Partnership and Friendship, which was signed on March 11, 2013.
As part of the economic cooperation, Azerbaijan exports crude oil, jet fuel, medicines, transformer parts, various equipment, etc. to Croatia. More than 20 Croatian companies have been registered and operate in Azerbaijan in such areas as information technology, the oil industry, energy, and railway infrastructure.
