Denmark to allocate over $600 million for Ukraine's military-industrial complex
The Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen signed a document with his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umerov in Kyiv, according to which the Ukrainian military-industrial complex enterprises will make arms purchases worth about 4.2 billion kroner ($628.8 million).
Of the total amount, $434.2 million are the funds received from the frozen Russian assets.
“By the end of the year, it is planned to deliver Ukrainian-made arms and equipment to the front, the funds for which were received from Denmark, as well as at the expense of frozen Russian assets, which Denmark receives on behalf of the EU,” the Danish Defence Ministry said in statement, Caliber.Az reports.
Denmark’s involvement will focus on direct procurement of weapons and defence equipment from Ukrainian manufacturers, a move that strengthens Ukraine’s capacity to produce the specific weapons needed in its ongoing conflict.
“Denmark is leading the way by facilitating the direct donation of weapons produced by Ukraine’s own defense industry,” Poulsen noted, adding that the arrangement supports the country’s long-term self-sufficiency in defense production.
Earlier this year, Denmark financed the procurement of 18 Ukrainian-manufactured Bogdana artillery systems, which have already been delivered to Ukraine’s armed forces. This pilot project set the stage for further cooperation between the two nations in defence-related procurement.
