Disney's first residential community set to open soon
Newsweek unveils that Disney's ambitious venture into residential living is making significant progress with the completion of three model homes in its first community in California.
The company announced its initiative, Storyliving by Disney, in 2022 to develop residential neighborhoods. Cotino, the first community, is located in Rancho Mirage, California, near the Greater Palm Springs area, with a second planned about 30 miles west of Raleigh, North Carolina. Media representatives were recently invited to tour the newly constructed model homes situated on Blue Oasis Drive and Purple Iris Way, as reported by the Desert Sun.
The homes, built by Shea Homes—one of three companies involved in the project—feature designs from the Oasis, Agrarian, and Aspiron collections. Set to be open for public viewing in November, the completed model homes have left Storyliving Vice President Jay Critcher feeling "very pleased." "We're really excited about the interest we've received," Critcher shared with the Desert Sun. "We're transitioning from pre-sales to actual sales, so as we unveil more model homes, we'll enter the active sales phase."
He added, "Our brand has tremendous loyalty, and people really respect it. There's a strong desire in the Coachella Valley to be part of Disney, and we're enjoying that momentum."
