Drama surrounding British cabinet reshuffle continues as ousted Interior minister attacks PM
Suella Braverman, who was sacked as the UK's home secretary in an unexpected cabinet reshuffle, accused Rishi Sunak of "betrayal" in a scathing resignation letter.
According to the Independent, Braverman criticized Sunak for failing to deliver on key policies and accused him of not having any intention of keeping his promises.
Her departure on November 13 came after she accused the Metropolitan Police chiefs, responsible for order in London, of bias in their handling of the pro-Palestine protests.
In a resignation posted on her official X page, she accused PM Sunak of having “manifestly and repeatedly failed to deliver” on key policies and said his “distinctive style of government means you are incapable of doing so”.
“You have manifestly and repeatedly failed to deliver on every single one of these key policies. Either your distinctive style of government means you are incapable of doing so. Or, as I must surely conclude now, you never had any intention of keeping your promises”, the ousted minister wrote.
After her dismissal, Sunak appointed former Prime Minister Lord David Cameron as foreign minister, who resigned from his post in 2016 following the Brexit referendum. There is now a potential threat of a revolt from the Tory right, as Braverman's supporters may submit letters of no confidence in Sunak's leadership.
