EU to discuss new military supplies to Kyiv Amid fighting near Kursk
EU foreign and defense ministers will discuss at an informal meeting of the EU Council in Brussels on August 29-30 the possibility of new military supplies to Kyiv amid losses of Ukrainian forces as a result of fighting in Russia's Kursk region, a diplomatic source in Brussels said.
“Support for Ukraine, including possibilities of new military supplies, will certainly be the main topic of the meeting, which is especially important amid intense fighting in the Kursk area,” the source said, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
According to the source, Ukraine is now “in particularly acute need of additional equipment and ammunition” as a result of “high losses” of units that have entered Russia.
The informal meeting of the EU Council at the level of the EU foreign and defense ministers on August 29-30 was postponed from Budapest to Brussels by the decision of the head of the European diplomatic service, Josep Borrell. This was done as a punishment for the Hungarian presidency of the EU Council for Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's visits to Moscow and Beijing in early July with “uncoordinated” peace initiatives on Ukraine with the European Commission.
