EU to keep assisting Azerbaijan in demining efforts, new envoy tells President Aliyev
On October 16, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the credentials of the newly appointed Head of the European Union Delegation to Azerbaijan, Marijana Kujundžić.
During the meeting, President Aliyev recalled with satisfaction his meetings in Tirana and Copenhagen with President of the European Council António Costa and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, noting that prospects for developing cooperation had been discussed in detail during those encounters, Caliber.Az reports, citing the president's official website.
Kujundžić congratulated President Aliyev on advancing the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia, achieved under the witness of US President Donald Trump in Washington.
She noted Azerbaijan’s active regional diplomacy and emphasised that President Aliyev’s recent visits and participation in international summits serve as a vivid example of this policy.
Kuyundzhich highlighted favourable opportunities for further development of relations between Azerbaijan and the EU, mentioning successful cooperation in the energy and transport sectors and underscoring the EU’s support for regional connectivity projects.
She also reaffirmed that the EU would continue to assist Azerbaijan in demining efforts across liberated territories.
The meeting included an exchange of views on the prospects for Azerbaijan-EU cooperation.
