EU top diplomat urges allies to contribute to secure, prosperous South Caucasus

The European Union’s (EU) top diplomat Josep Borrell has urged the EU states to intensify its work to achieve a secure, stable and prosperous South Caucasus.

“Russia‘s war of aggression against Ukraine has brought war back to Europe. Today, we look at a very different Eastern neighbourhood. We heard the call for more EU presence and integration and the Eastern Partnership to be adjusted to challenges and differentiated needs of partners,” Caliber.Az quotes Borrel’s tweet as saying.

“At our annual Eastern Partnership ministerial, I suggest continuing our EaP policy in parallel to the enlargement process, as a vehicle for regional cooperation. We should step up work on security & defence and continue engagement for a secure, stable & prosperous South Caucasus,” he wrote.
