European Commission to strengthen support for Ukraine’s defence at key summit
The European Commission (EC) is set to discuss new military assistance to Ukraine, including air defence equipment, ammunition, and weapons, at a high-level summit scheduled for March 6.
The meeting will focus on reinforcing the European Union’s ongoing support for Ukraine in its conflict with Russia, as tensions continue to escalate, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
Spokesperson for EU Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Anouar-El-Anouni, reiterated the EU's position, stating that "peace should be concluded in Ukraine on the basis of force."
He emphasized that the EU has remained consistent in its stance and continues to support Ukraine’s defence efforts. “Our position has never changed,” El-Anouni added during a briefing in Brussels.
The summit will address Ukraine’s urgent need for additional military supplies, particularly in the areas of air defence systems, ammunition, and general weaponry. The European Union has already provided significant assistance to Ukraine since the start of the conflict, and the upcoming summit aims to further solidify this commitment by agreeing on the delivery of more advanced military equipment.
The EU’s resolve to support Ukraine remains steadfast as the bloc seeks to strengthen Ukraine’s defence capabilities in the face of continued Russian aggression. The March 6 summit is expected to be a crucial step in ensuring that Ukraine receives the necessary resources to defend itself and to secure its position in the ongoing conflict.
