Explosion hits military base in Iraq's Babil

Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), also known as Al-Hashd al-Shaabi, reported an explosion at a military base in the north of Babil governorate early on Saturday.

Issuing a statement shortly after the incident, the PMU said that the explosion targeted its forces in the Kalsu base located in the north of Babil province, south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, Mehrnews reports.

The explosion caused material damage and left several people injured, according to the statement.

An investigation team was dispatched to the scene of the incident to probe the cause of the blast.
