Ukraine battles blaze after Russian drone strike on Odesa Video
Russian forces launched overnight drone attacks on the port city of Izmail in Ukraine’s Odesa region, triggering a large fire and leaving one man injured, according to local officials.
The strike, carried out in the early hours of Wednesday, damaged infrastructure and industrial facilities in the area, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media.
Odesa’s regional governor Oleh Kiper said emergency services quickly contained the fires, while the injured man is receiving medical treatment.
Ukraine’s State Emergency Service reported that 54 firefighters and 16 vehicles were deployed to tackle the blaze, which broke out at a fuel and energy site.
A special firefighting train from Ukrzaliznytsia, the state railway operator, was also used in the operation.
The Odesa region has faced repeated Russian strikes targeting port and industrial facilities. Just days earlier, on August 18, multiple explosions were heard in Odesa as waves of drones attacked from several directions.
On July 16, the Izmail district also came under drone fire, damaging infrastructure and sparking another fire.
