Russian drones damage key energy facility in Ukraine's Chernihiv
Russian forces carried out a drone attack on energy infrastructure in the city of Chernihiv during the day on December 24, damaging a critical energy facility.
According to the Chernihiv City Council, the explosion heard by residents at approximately 14:00 local time was linked to an attack on the city’s energy infrastructure, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media.
Earlier, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine had warned of the movement of hostile drones toward Chernihiv from the northwest.
Chernihivoblenergo reported that the Russian strike damaged a key energy facility in the Chernihiv district, leaving tens of thousands of consumers without electricity. The company noted that emergency repair and restoration work will commence as soon as the security situation permits.
The city council also stated that one of the drones crashed on the premises of an industrial enterprise. According to preliminary information, the strike damaged the facade and window glazing of an administrative building, a garage facility, eight passenger vehicles, and a passenger bus. No casualties have been reported.
