Media: Russian travelers to Kyrgyzstan could face new passport rules from 2026
Starting in 2026, Russian citizens will be allowed to enter Kyrgyzstan only with an international passport, a source told the Telegram channel Readovka on Wednesday, December 24.
At present, a visa-free regime is in place between the two countries, allowing Russian nationals to travel to Kyrgyzstan using either an internal Russian passport or an international passport. The information has not yet been officially confirmed.
On December 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov held talks in St. Petersburg. The meeting took place ahead of a session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council at one of the halls of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library.
During Putin’s state visit to Kyrgyzstan, the two sides also signed seven documents, including a joint statement on deepening allied relations and strategic partnership, as well as a protocol amending the treaty between Moscow and Bishkek on the development of military-technical cooperation.
