US keeps Ukraine at Level 4 "Do Not Travel" amid war
The United States has maintained its Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for Ukraine, citing continued risks from the Russia-Ukraine war.
In an updated advisory issued on August 28, the US State Department said: “Do not travel to Ukraine for any reason due to the Russia-Ukraine war.”
The department warned that Russian missile and drone attacks could affect non-frontline areas and said the security situation could change rapidly.
The US Embassy in Kyiv remains open, but its personnel face restrictions on movement, curfews and activities. US government employees require special authorisation to travel outside Kyiv, while family members are not authorised to join them in Ukraine.
The State Department urged US citizens in Ukraine to monitor security alerts, respond immediately to air-raid warnings and remain aware of the location of nearby shelters.
