Death toll from Russian strike in Kyiv region rises to 37 PHOTO / UPDATED

The death toll from a Russian strike on Bucha district in Ukraine’s Kyiv region has risen to 37, Kyiv Regional Military Administration chief Timur Tkachenko said on Telegram on August 29.

Work to deal with the aftermath of the strike is under way at the site.

At least 31 people have been killed and 88 injured in a series of Russian attacks across Ukraine, according to Ukrainian officials.

The latest deaths were reported in the Bucha district of Kyiv region, where 27 people were killed in a Russian attack, foreign media reports.

Kyiv Regional Military Administration head c said the death toll could rise as emergency services continue rescue and firefighting operations.

A further 42 people were injured in the Bucha district, including four children. Around 50 residential buildings were damaged in the attack.

Among those killed was Taras Didych, head of the Dmytrivka community in Bucha district. Tkachenko said Didych was among the first to arrive at the scene to help residents following the attack before he was killed.

The latest casualties bring the overall death toll from recent Russian attacks across Ukraine to 31, with 88 people reported injured to varying degrees of severity.

Four people have been killed and 48 injured in Russian attacks on several regions of Ukraine on August 29, Ukrainian media reports, citing regional military administrations.

In Sumy Region, nearly 50 attacks were recorded between the morning of August 28 and the morning of August 29, affecting 20 settlements across eight municipalities.

Russian forces used artillery, mortars, multiple-launch rocket systems, FPV drones, UAVs and guided aerial bombs.

In Sumy municipality, 12 people were injured in rocket attacks, and another person was injured in a UAV attack.

In Kherson, one person was killed in the Korabelnyi district on the morning of August 29. A 44-year-old man was injured and hospitalised, while a 54-year-old man was injured in the Dniprovskyi district.

In Kharkiv Region, Russian forces struck Kharkiv and 13 other settlements over the past 24 hours. A woman aged about 45 was killed, and 11 people were injured, according to regional military administration head Oleh Syniehubov.

Russian forces launched a series of attacks on Ukraine on the morning of August 29 using attack drones, aerial bombs and artillery, killing two people and injuring 20 others in several regions.

Ukrinform reported the figures, citing regional military administrations and Ukraine’s State Emergency Service.

In Zaporizhzhia region, 932 strikes were recorded against 48 settlements over the past 24 hours, including 628 drone attacks and 17 airstrikes. One person was killed and 15 injured in attacks on Zaporizhzhia and the surrounding area.

In Odesa region’s Izmail district, a person was killed and three others injured in a night-time attack. Transport infrastructure was damaged, while eight trucks carrying food caught fire.

In Dnipropetrovsk region, the Synelnykove, Nikopol and Pavlohrad districts came under attack. Two people were injured, while infrastructure facilities, an enterprise and a logistics company building were damaged.

In Kharkiv region, Izium was hit by three FAB-250 aerial bombs with UMPK guidance modules. At least 10 residential buildings, shops and the grounds of a non-operational enterprise were damaged. Drone strikes were also recorded in Kharkiv’s Nemyshlianskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts, where a fire broke out. No casualties were reported.

In Kyiv, an attack caused a fire in an apartment on the ninth floor of a nine-storey building in the Sviatoshynskyi district. The fire also damaged floors and the roof. It was extinguished, with no casualties reported.
