Finland plans to build barriers on border with Russia
Finnish Minister of the Interior Krista Mikkonen said that the country's authorities plan to install barriers on the border with Russia to strengthen the country's security, TASS reports, citing the Finnish Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“The Finnish government plans to install barriers in critical areas on the eastern border [with Russia],” the head of the department said.
The document notes that additional funding will be allocated to the border service for these purposes. In addition, the construction of barriers will make it possible to amend the law on border guards.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, this measure will help prepare the country to deal with "threats of a hybrid nature", namely, "the use of the migration issue to exert political pressure."
It is noted that after the amendments to the legislation, the reception of migrants will be carried out centrally, at checkpoints on the border specially designated for this.
