FM: Azerbaijan, Iran have disagreements, but stay committed to dialogue
Azerbaijan and Iran have certain disagreements, but the states have chosen dialogue as the priority approach in all aspects of their relations, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said.
Araghchi made the remarks at a joint press conference with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in Baku, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The Iranian top diplomat stressed that his visit to Azerbaijan carries strategic importance for discussions on the further development of bilateral ties.
“Today’s talks covered political, economic, cultural and other areas of cooperation. I also held a meeting with President Ilham Aliyev, during which all key issues were addressed. There are many shared interests between our countries. There are also certain disagreements, but we have chosen dialogue as the priority approach in all aspects of our relations,” he said.
The minister also recalled the Iranian president’s visits to Azerbaijan this year and added: “We likewise look forward to welcoming President Ilham Aliyev in Iran.”
