Minister: Israel makes headway in negotiations for hostage deal with Hamas
Israel's Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar announced that progress has been made in ongoing negotiations aimed at securing a hostage-ceasefire agreement with Hamas.
Speaking at a press conference in Jerusalem alongside his Danish counterpart, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Sa’ar confirmed that the talks are advancing, Caliber.Az reports via Israeli media.
“Progress was made; we see some progress in the negotiations,” Sa’ar said, highlighting Israel's commitment to reaching a deal. “Israel wants a hostage deal. Israel is working with our American friends to achieve a hostage deal, and soon we will know whether the other side wants the same thing,” he added.
When questioned about the potential timeline for an agreement, Sa’ar remained cautious, acknowledging the sensitivity of the situation for the families involved. “There is progress, I said it looks much better than previously… but I don’t want to say more than that, because I realize there are families that are sensitive to every word and every sentence,” he stated.
Sa’ar also revealed that Israel is working closely with both the outgoing Biden administration and the incoming Trump administration to make further strides in the coming days.
“I hope that within a short time, we will see things happening, but it is still to be proved,” he concluded.
