Former Dutch Senate head commends Aliyev’s contribution to regional stability
René van der Linden, former President of the Senate of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, has sent a congratulatory message to President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan following his recognition with the prestigious Zayed Award for Human Fraternity.
In his letter, van der Linden praised Aliyev’s leadership and dedication to fostering peace and reconciliation in the South Caucasus.
“Your leadership and tireless efforts have made a significant contribution to peace, stability, and reconciliation in the Southern Caucasus region,” he wrote.
He also highlighted the significance of the joint award given to President Aliyev and the Prime Minister of Armenia, describing it as recognition of their commitment to conflict resolution.
“As a person who did his best to support the settlement of the conflict in accordance with the norms and principles of international law, I sincerely extend my heartfelt congratulations to you for this high recognition of your incredible efforts and achievements on the path to peace,” van der Linden added.
The former Dutch Senate president further emphasised the broader impact of Aliyev’s work, noting, “May it serve as an encouragement for the people of both countries for the establishment of good neighborly relations and sustainable development, contributing to the prosperity of the entire region.”
Van der Linden concluded his message with warm regards, underlining the international appreciation for Azerbaijan’s role in advancing stability in the South Caucasus.
