France to oppose any extension of Macronism

Olivier Faure, leader of the French Socialist Party, will not participate in the regular consultations on the formation of a new government proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron.

Faure made this decision after Macron refused to accept the programme of the left-wing coalition, Caliber.Az reports, citing French media.

“I refuse to participate in this travesty of democracy. What is he going to tell us?” Faure said.

Faure says that the head of state cannot offer any solutions to resolve the current problems, but at the same time refuses to accept the proposals of the left-wing coalition ‘New Popular Front’.

Moreover, the head of the Socialists believes that Macron does not want to return to the discussion of the pension reform adopted with scandal without a vote in Parliament.

He expressed bewilderment at the fact that despite concessions from the party “La France Insoumise” (Insubordinate France), which agreed not to nominate candidates for ministerial posts, because other parties promised to express no confidence in the government with their participation, Macron still did not accept the proposal of the left.

“We realise that for them the problem is not ‘La France Insoumise’ but the left, for them the problem is the French, it's the results of the vote. ‘I win, you lose’ - that's what democracy looks like according to Macron and his friends,” Faure said.

He added that the Socialist Party will not take part in the coalition government, where it is actively invited by the right-wing Republicans and centrists.

“We are being asked to support endless Macronism. My answer is no. And we will oppose any extension of Macronism,” he said.
