OpenAI attracts new investors in $10 billion capital infusion

OpenAI is close to securing around $10 billion in new investments, Bloomberg reports.

According to the publication, this would raise the company’s estimated valuation to $850 billion. New investors are expected to include MGX, Coatue, Thrive Capital, and Altimeter Capital.

The infusion would bring OpenAI’s total capital raised to a record $120 billion, well above the original $100 billion target set by ChatGPT’s creators, Bloomberg notes.

OpenAI announced the first tranche of this investment round in late February. Experts suggest it could be the company’s final private funding round ahead of an initial public offering (IPO).
