G1: Geomagnetic storm hits Earth
25 March 2026 13:55
A minor geomagnetic storm has begun on Earth, TASS reports, citing the Institute of Applied Geophysics.
According to space weather monitoring, the level of disturbance in Earth's magnetic field is at G1. The strength of geomagnetic storms is measured on a five-level scale, where G5 is “extremely strong” and G1 is “minor.”
On March 23, specialists from the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute (IKI RAS) and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics (ISZF SB RAS) noted that Earth remains under the influence of a coronal hole, meaning “minor geomagnetic variations are still possible.”
