Axios: US plans strikes on Iran despite talks
US armed forces plan to continue striking Iranian territory for at least another two to three weeks, even if direct talks take place between Washington and Tehran, Axios reports.
Sources in US and Israeli leadership told the portal that the White House is creating conditions for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict while simultaneously increasing military pressure and preparing forces for a potential ground invasion.
According to US officials, the Iranian government is in disarray, struggling with internal communication. Uncertainty surrounding the new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, further clouds who holds decision-making authority.
Meanwhile, some Iranian officials assert that Trump is merely attempting to soothe markets and gain time for military operations, using misleading statements about diplomatic progress.
