France warns of potential major war in Europe by 2030
France has issued a stark warning about the growing risk of a large-scale armed conflict in Europe within the next five years, citing escalating geopolitical tensions and rising military threats on the continent.
The alert comes in the updated National Strategic Review – 2025, released by France’s General Secretariat for Defence and National Security. The document outlines key defence and security priorities and forecasts a “high probability” of a major conflict erupting in Europe by 2030, Caliber.Az reports.
While the review notes that any potential war is expected to take place outside France’s national borders, it cautions that the country could nonetheless become directly involved, depending on the scale and location of hostilities.
The strategic review also warns of a growing “Russian threat,” which, according to the document, is expected to intensify by 2030 due to the expansion of Russia’s defence industry. It notes the possibility of aggression against Ukraine, Moldova, the Balkans, or NATO countries within the next 3 to 5 years.
