French President expresses solidarity with Azerbaijan after Iranian air attack
The President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, held a phone conversation with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, on March 8, expressing France’s solidarity with Azerbaijan following Iran’s recent air attack.
According to Azerbaijan’s presidential press service, the French leader conveyed his country’s support for Azerbaijan in connection with the incident.
Macron also thanked President Aliyev for the assistance provided in facilitating the evacuation of French citizens from Iran through Azerbaijani territory.
In response, President Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the phone call and for the solidarity demonstrated by France.
During the conversation, the two leaders also exchanged views on strengthening peace in the South Caucasus and discussed prospects for revitalising bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and France, as well as opportunities for future cooperation.
