Germany approves arms exports worth billions
In the first half of the year, German authorities granted permits for arms exports totalling €5.6 billion.
The information was disclosed by the German news agency, citing a response from the Federal Ministry of Economy to an inquiry from Bundestag deputy Sevim Dagdelen (Union of Sarah Wagenknecht - for Reason and Justice, BSW), Caliber.Az reports.
Dagdelen criticized the federal government, noting that the authorization of such a significant amount in arms exports shortly before the regional elections in East Germany reflects misplaced political priorities. She argued that the government should be investing in education, infrastructure, and healthcare rather than allocating resources to arms supplies for Kyiv.
The Ministry of Economy, which handles export authorizations including those for military equipment, has indicated that these figures are still preliminary.
