Global Sumud flotilla calls on sports fans to show support for Palestine
The Global Maghreb Sumud Flotilla has urged sports fans and football club supporters to prepare banners, messages, and large flags in support of Palestine, which will be displayed on ships heading to the Gaza Strip to break the blockade.
According to a statement from the flotilla, the posters should reflect support for the Palestinian cause and the resistance in Gaza, with a maximum size of 10 meters. These banners will be placed on the vessels as part of the flotilla’s mission, Caliber.Az reports per Anadolu.
The Global Sumud international flotilla, formed with backing from more than 44 countries to demonstrate solidarity with Palestinians and challenge the Israeli blockade, departed from Barcelona, Spain, on August 31 en route to Gaza. On the same day, several ships carrying 300 tons of humanitarian aid left Genoa, Italy, to join the initiative in the Mediterranean.
Earlier, the Maghreb Sumud flotilla had announced that its departure from Tunisia would be postponed to align with the international Global Sumud mission, which aims to deliver humanitarian aid and break the blockade.
The flotilla’s departure was rescheduled from September 4 to September 7. Global Sumud brings together hundreds of participants from multiple countries.
