Moldova reports multiple unidentified drones in its airspace

Moldova’s Border Police reported that several unidentified aircraft entered the country’s airspace in the Ștefan Vodă area on the morning of September 19, prompting searches along the border for possible debris and other fallen fragments.

According to the Border Police, several unidentified aircraft were detected near the village of Căplani in Ștefan Vodă district. Two of them flew through Moldovan airspace in the direction of the villages of Olănești and Chistovodne, while another was observed over Căplani.

The third aircraft was flying from the direction of Crocmaz before subsequently leaving Moldovan airspace toward Ukraine.

The Border Police initially reported that the drones had been detected around midnight, while its later official update placed the sightings at around 4 a.m.

At 5:19 a.m. (6:19 a.m. Baku time), Ukrainian authorities informed their Moldovan counterparts that an unidentified object had fallen approximately 1.5–2 km from the state border near the Ukrainian village of Troitske and subsequently caught fire.

Moldovan border patrols were dispatched to the area to establish the circumstances of the incident and search for possible fragments or other objects.

A subsequent joint search by Moldovan and Ukrainian border authorities found no fragments or possible explosion site on Moldovan territory. The Ukrainian side later reported that an explosion site and unidentified fragments had been found on Ukrainian territory, approximately 1.2 km from the state border.

The Moldovan Border Police said it was continuing to monitor the border area and maintain an operational exchange of information with Ukrainian authorities.
