Heavy rainstorm hits Russia's Sochi
A heavy rainstorm has hit Russia's resort Sochi city.
Roads and the first floors of buildings, as well as areas near some houses were flooded, rbc.ru reports referring to "Kuban 24" local TV channel and the city administration.
Power was cut off in some areas of the city.
According to the TV channel, the water level in the Bzugu River, which is flowing in the Khosta district of the city, has risen to unfavorable levels.
The river overflowed its banks, the federal media, including Interfax agency, reports citing the Sochi administration.
The sensors of dangerous phenomena worked in total on four rivers, namely, Khosta, Matsesta, Bzugu, Kudepsta. Forecasters warned that the water could rise to dangerous levels in some reservoirs.
The Central and Khostinsky districts of the city greatly suffered. Power supply is disrupted in the Lazarevsky and Central regions. Matsesta microdistrict and neighboring Monastyr and Solokhaul villages were flooded.
The roads were greatly flooded in Donskaya Street in the central district of Sochi. Traffic was also blocked on the section of the A-148 federal highway between the seventh and eighth tunnels.
