Hungary condemns Russian cyberattacks, backs Western allies

14 July 2026 14:02

Hungary has condemned what it described as Russia's malicious cyber activities targeting Western countries, expressing solidarity with its allies and reaffirming its commitment to a secure and rules-based cyberspace.

The statement was made by Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orbán, who said recent declarations by NATO, the European Union and the United Kingdom pointed to an escalating pattern of Russian cyber operations.

According to the minister, the statements revealed "the troubling trend of increasing malicious Russian activities in cyber space, which form part of a broader, coordinated hybrid campaign aimed at undermining our security and unity."

Orbán said Hungary stands with the countries affected by the attacks and supports international efforts to strengthen cybersecurity and uphold international norms.

“Hungary condemns these activities and stands in solidarity with all Allies and Member States who have been affected.

Hungary remains committed to preserving a free, open, peaceful and secure cyberspace. We continue to promote respect for international law and the voluntary norms of responsible state behaviour in cyberspace, as recognized by all member states of the United Nations," she said.
