IsDB chairman receives Azerbaijan’s “Dostlug” Order under presidential decree
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree awarding Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser, President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), the “Dostlug” (Friendship) Order for his contributions to strengthening cooperation between Azerbaijan and the IsDB.
This prestigious award comes at a significant moment, as Azerbaijan is currently hosting the IsDB Group’s 51st Annual Meetings in Baku from June 16 to 19, 2026.
Under the theme “Regional Integration for Sustainable Prosperity,” the 51st IsDB Group Annual Meetings mark the second time Azerbaijan has hosted the flagship event within the past 15 years, following the 2010 edition.
These meetings bring together finance ministers, policymakers, private sector leaders, and international partners from the IsDB’s 57 member countries to discuss connectivity, Islamic finance development, halal economy initiatives, green energy transitions, and investment opportunities, with expectations of signing agreements worth over $4.7 billion.
Azerbaijan, a member of the IsDB since 1992, has actively prepared for the summit through a dedicated organising committee, emphasising its strategic role as a bridge between East and West and its contributions to regional economic cooperation.
